Our Journey
Washed by Grace was born out of both need and opportunity — an effort to restore an essential community resource that has been missing for far too long. In the heart of West Baltimore, we have identified a laundromat that has sat vacant for nearly two years. The space still holds the remnants of what once faithfully served this neighborhood.
Our vision is to bring this laundromat back to life — not just as a functional business, but as a clean, safe, welcoming, and dependable anchor for the community. With grant funding, we can rehabilitate the existing machines, modernize the space, and restore affordable access to one of the most basic necessities of daily living: clean clothes.
What We'll Offer
Washed by Grace will provide essential, community-centered laundry services designed to meet the needs of residents who have gone without a local laundromat for far too long. Our service model is both practical and people-focused, ensuring that clean clothes are accessible, affordable, and delivered with care.
Our core offering will be a modernized self-service laundromat, equipped with refurbished commercial washers and dryers already located in the building. For working parents, caregivers, and community members juggling multiple jobs or responsibilities, we will offer affordable wash-and-fold services. This option saves time while still ensuring access to clean clothes — which can mean showing up to work with confidence, sending children to school prepared, and maintaining basic stability during difficult seasons. We understand that laundry is often a family task — and that parents are more likely to use local services when they feel their children are welcome. To meet that need, Washed by Grace will include a dedicated Laundry & Learn corner: a safe, visible space where children can read, color, or engage with educational materials while their caregivers handle laundry.
